These seem to be the times of great disgust. In general and certainly here on the Vine, I hear many express their disgust. It is directed in many areas and there is much to be disgusted by in this day and age, but it is strange as to what will finally throw one off the edge.
Freeh's report on the Penn State debacle involving the abuse of children by one of their coaches was delivered yesterday. Beyond the incidents themselves it was revealed that both the head coach and many administrators were aware of this behaviour initiated as far back as 1998. What they did was nothing, as they did not want to disrupt their Nationally touted football program or confront it's supporters. Fourteen years, how many children fell prey to this abuse over that time frame due to the lack of action by those charged with overseeing their program. It is my thought that they should be charged as accessories to the crimes, but that will not happen as people of this ilk operate under a different set of laws than you and I.
Is this really what we have come to, a mentality that fore sakes common decency for a game? I did not think that anything could disgust me more than our Congress, but these folks have managed.
